Underscoring gategroup's brand value of responsibility, Gate Gourmet employees strive to be good corporate citizens in the communities we serve. Here are just a few examples: Peru “We are grateful for the cooperation of the people and with the help of workers from Gate Gourmet Peru who are always present,” said Gustavo Tupayachi, Director of SOS Children’s Villages Callao. “The proceeds from this activity will greatly assist our work with children,” he said. “We have an agreement with SOS Children’s Villages through which we actively work with them on various events. Our employees coordinate the activities between Gate Gourmet and SOS and promote the participation of our staff and their families,” said Luis Calos, Peru Country Manager. Gate Gourmet’s relationship with SOS in Lima spans many years. Two former residents of the Village are now employees at Gate Gourmet. Philippines Gate Gourmet Manila/Miascor Catering Services Corp. and its employees joined the ranks of helpers by donating clothing, sacks of rice, canned goods, bottled water, and more to SOS Children’s Villages Philippines, which was offering its support through distribution of relief goods to affected families. United States of America Supplies were immediately needed, and Hawaiian Airlines mobilized a relief mission to arrive in Pago Pago the day after the tsunami waves hit the community. The unscheduled flight carried Federal and state disaster response personnel as well as dozens of employee volunteers who went to to deliver over 40,000 pounds of water, food, clothing and other necessities to devastated areas. Amid their normal production, Gate Gourmet employees stopped to cater and load the flight. "We moved pallets of everything, from water to freight, as well as made and packed out shelf-stable snacks for the volunteers and special meals for the passengers scheduled to travel on this Boeing 767. We also loaded large coolers of perishable items," said General Manager Brian Woods. "I am very proud of the teamwork and support our great employees have shown for others at a time of need." Many Gate Gourmet employees have family and friends in America Samoa. Louis Saint-Cyr, Hawaiian's VP of In-Flight Services, was equally pleased and impressed by the speed with which the Honolulu team serviced the relief flight. "Gate Gourmet was a real partner in helping us with this effort and displayed great compassion for the people of American Samoa,” he said. |
